Milton Common Pavillion

2017, BA Architecture Year 1

This group project was developed in both a design unit and technology unit. In the design phase, our group analysed the Milton Common site, to the East of Portsmouth, and created a scheme for a pavilion that would float just offshore in the tidal Milton Lake. At the centre of the pavilion is a rod with tide markings, allowing users to visually understand the current tide level, and see a visual representation of where high and low tides are for the site. The circular form promoted a journey around the pavilion, with specific views framed by perspex information boards inside.

For the technology part of the project our group had to specify the materials for the pavilion, and - in our case - make sure it floats.
